Bay View House

Bay View House

Situated just steps from Humboldt Park, this 1920’s Bay View bungalow received a contemporary kitchen transformation fit for the modern lifestyle of a growing family. The original kitchen and pantry had been previously replaced in the early 1980’s and was in need of a renovation that reflected the quality craftsmanship of the existing home. We worked with the owners to completely redesign a custom kitchen that would comfortably contrast the traditional framework of their home. Originally, the home served as the model for the neighborhood’s developer. As a subtle nod to the history of the property, all original baseboard and trim profiles, HVAC registers, and maple hardwoods were retained. Douglas fir, a wood species commonly used in Milwaukee’s bungalows, was returned to the kitchen in the form of new cabinetry, shelving, and a versatile, mobile island.
